Caravonica emerges as a top suburb for property sales in Cairns

Imagine being surrounded by rainforest with sweeping mountain and ocean views, just 15 minutes drive from the CBD in a residential community offering one of the most enviable lifestyles in Cairns.

Red Peak Forest Estate is one of Cairns’ premier locations to live and if recent figures from RP Data are anything to go by, the suburb of Caravonica is set for even more growth.

Growth, which developer Anthony Oberdan, believes is being driven by buyer demand for homes located in the boutique estate.

The Oberdan family have personally developed Red Peak Forest Estate in carefully managed stages over the past decade.

“There is no question that Red Peak offers a fantastic lifestyle – there is a beautiful lake, kilometres of walking paths, land offering the best mountain and ocean views all set within a rainforest backdrop, as well as a strong, sense of community,” he explains.

“This is definitely having a positive effect on the value of properties within the estate, which continue to be highly sought.

“The medium house price in Caravonica is now sitting at $442,000 (RP Data, February 2014 Report), which is one of the highest in Cairns.”

To help meet this demand, Red Peak Forest Estate has recently released two stages of land – 10A and 6 – and has plans to commence construction on further stage (8A) by the middle of this year.

“We have had a really good response to our most recent land releases, which are both very different.

“Stage 10A, which is positioned in a great location close to the recreational lake and parklands appeals to upgraders or entry-level purchasers.

“Stage 6, which offers sweeping views of the ocean, mountains and Freshwater valley below is attracting buyers looking to build in the million-dollar range.”

Anthony says Stage 8A, which is made up of nine hillside allotments likely to be ready for release in early 2015, will be different again appealing to those looking for large, private blocks overlooking the rainforest.

“There are number of reasons why buyers are choosing to live in Red Peak Forest Estate. We are only 5 minutes walk from Lake Placid, a few minutes drive to Smithfield Shopping Centre and the northern beaches and 10 minutes to the Cairns Airport.”

Another feature of Red Peak, according to Anthony, is its “good feng shui”, after the family made the decision to incorporate this ancient practice into the estate’s design.

“After we investigated feng shui and the potential positive implications for the development and those who lived here, it was a simple decision.

“The principals of feng shui really do come down to good design practice, which made sense in a residential development like ours where there is rainforest, water and mountain views.

“We find buyers really appreciate this attention to detail and are really aware of the benefits of this.”
